Advanced Vision & Intelligent Systems (AVIS) Research Lab

Atique Tajwar is a Research Assistant at the AVIS Lab under the supervision of Dr. Md. Mehedi Hasan and an M.Sc. student in the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Dhaka. His current research focuses on compliant robotic manipulation, where he is developing an autonomous robotic gripper capable of adaptive grasping and grip-force adjustment for objects with diverse shapes and weights.

He previously earned his B.Sc. in Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering from the University of Dhaka, where his undergraduate thesis focused on the development of an intelligent prosthetic hand. As part of this work, he designed the complete data acquisition system, including biosignal sensor interfacing and signal processing, resulting in an IEEE conference publication titled “Development of an Accelerometer-based Data Acquisition System for Hand Gesture Recognition”. He also designed, fabricated, and assembled the prosthetic hand and developed a machine learning-based gesture recognition system for intuitive control, which led to an IEEE Access publication titled “Design and Evaluation of ADANet: A High-Fidelity Motion Acquisition Framework for Assistive Gesture-Based Interfaces”.

Alongside his academic research, he works as a part-time ML/AI Engineer at NoeticX, a startup company, where he develops generative AI solutions for information extraction/submission and process automation.


Research Interests: Robotics, embedded systems, AI, and hardware-software co-design. Atiq designs and develops robotic systems, PCB hardware, and embedded electronics, with a particular interest in bio-inspired robotics, intelligent manipulation, and VLSI design. He also has working knowledge of digital hardware design using Verilog.
